PACKAGING AND LOGISTICS BLOGS
Most people land here in the middle of a decision.
Whether to bring packaging in house or send it out. What a retailer’s compliance packet actually requires. Why orders started slipping the month a second sales channel went live.
These are the answers we give clients, written down. DIY Group has spent 30 years running contract packaging, warehousing, and distribution out of 500,000 square feet in Muncie, Indiana, so what follows comes from the floor, not from a search result.
What We Write About
Three topic areas, each mapped to work we actually do:

Packaging
Retail compliance, quality control, kitting, and display work, plus what to get right before the next purchase order ships.

Warehousing
Storage, inventory accuracy, and how your space and systems decide what you can honestly promise a retailer.

Distribution
Moving product to retail and direct-to-consumer buyers without the two channels fighting each other.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is contract packaging?
It means handing the packing work to an outside partner. That covers assembly, kitting, shrink wrapping, labeling, and retail display building, so your product arrives ready for the shelf or the shipping box.
When does outsourcing packaging or fulfillment make sense?
Usually when volume swings hard by season, when retail compliance starts costing you in chargebacks, or when floor space and labor have become the thing limiting what you can sell. If your volume is steady and your space is fine, staying in house is a reasonable answer.
What is the difference between a co-packer and a 3PL?
A co-packer handles the product itself, assembling, packing, and labeling it. A 3PL handles storage and movement, holding inventory and shipping orders. Plenty of brands need both, which is why we run packaging, warehousing, and distribution under one roof.
How do I get pricing?
Tell us what you are packing or shipping, roughly how much of it, and where it needs to go. We will put a quote together from there.
